Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what information we collect on this website and when you buy The Hidden South, how we use it, and the choices you have. In this policy “we” means Walt Haskins’ Field Guides (walthaskins.com), the publisher of these books and of the Walt Haskins channel on YouTube.
What we collect
- When you visit the site. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic technical data (browser type, pages requested) to deliver the pages and protect the site. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not identify you.
- In your own browser. The site saves two small notes in your browser’s storage: whether you closed our discount window, and which discount code you applied, so we don’t show the same thing twice. If you arrived from a link with tracking labels (such as “utm_source”), those labels are kept for your visit and passed to the checkout so we know which link brought you. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.
- When you buy. Your order is sold and processed by Gumroad, the merchant of record. They collect your name, email address, payment details and country to process the payment and deliver your download, under their own privacy policy (https://gumroad.com/privacy). We never see your full card number. Gumroad shares with us your name, email address and order details so we can deliver the book and help you.
- When you ask to be notified about the next book. We keep your email address and use it only to tell you when a new book is out. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- When you email us. We keep your message and email address to answer you.
How we use it
To deliver your purchase, answer your questions, process refunds, tell you about new books if you asked us to, keep the site safe, and understand in total numbers how visitors find the site. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.
Who else handles it
Only the services named above that help us run the shop: Cloudflare (hosting and visit counts), Gumroad (sale, checkout and delivery), and the email service we use to send news of new books. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from our emails with the link in any email, or by writing to us.
- Ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@tipsover60.com. We will answer within 30 days.
- You can clear the notes this site saves in your browser at any time in your browser settings.
Do Not Track
We do not track visitors across other websites, so we treat every visit the same whether or not your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal. Third parties do not collect personal information about your online activities across sites through this website.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
